"It looks to me, and I'm just guessing here, like a robotic dog with the soul of a thunder bird trapped inside that has bonded to Kace and works as almost an electrical highly charged taser weapon. But I'm just guessing, of course," Requiem said, just barely lifting his gaze to act like he was looking intently at the weapon. Requiem tapped at the mouse, pretending to continue looking at the screen, but was really just trying to avoid Kelly's skeptic gaze. Finally he couldn't take the stare any longer and turned to Kelly, "Okay, fine, I just got a little excited the first day I got a new trainee and decided to take him out to get a soul weapon. I mean, I know when I was his age I would have killed for one and he's been responsible with it."
Mary took a step back, clearly not expecting Kace to have any sentient weapon, but something about the glow in her eyes turned friendly at the sight of it. It was a robotic doggie! Her heart soared at the sight of it, was it loyal to only Kace or could it also learn to have affections to others because it had a free mind? It was a little like Cherub where it could stay in an immobile status so did it hear conversations or remain dormant? She wanted to stay mad, but instead she just wanted the battle to be over to convince Kace to let her pet the robot dog.
Still she had no other choice, but to stay focused. Reverie had to be kept restrained while focusing on both Alik and Kace. Plus there was still the disadvantage of her hands being tied, knocked around bad from the drainer, and keeping up the shield she had put by the hunters.
Withdrawing a breath as the foggy air swirled around her she whistled a slow, music box like harmony.
"But it's a special death you saved," Mary sang out quietly to herself, not even attempting to rely on sound to find the dog. Waiting for impact she instantly was clobbered to the ground by the dog. There you are, Kace.
Facing the ground a massive purple cube shot out from the ground rising her and the electrical mutt into the air using the force of the momentum shift to throw Sparky back to the ground.
"For me the brown eyed daughter," Mary sang, as she watched Sparky plummet back down just a few feet.
Forming a purple bubble around her head she spotted the fire extinguisher near Kace, as suspected. Kicking out her right foot the motion curved the cube, sending it into the fire extinguisher, blasting it wide open. Fumes rolled out like eerie waves wrapping around the objects like tentacles. Now everyone was just as consumed as Mary. The difference being that she had preserved air for herself in her bubble. Now it was just a a matter of taking her down before they ran out of air.
Since the moment the battle had started she had already decided how she would win.
Step one was establishing that she could, within the rules, use force fields for one minute. It won't be counted as being caught if she did it to someone else, so what's the harm?
Step two was figuring out that Alik can't suck the breath out of someone and can suffocate
Step three was "accidentally" releasing the fire extinguisher fumes, but Reverie made that easy.
So with all that combined all that was left was to bubble Alik and Kace for one minute with the fumes. By then they be weak enough for her to claim an win.
"Fine," Phantom relented getting up with the rest of them.
Cherub was walking to the door, already put off by Sivik's attitude when she turned and heard what Sivik said to Mrs. Moore. Unlike everyone else her reaction was not easily hidden. Scrunching up her nose she stomped back over to Sivik dragging him to the door, "Hurry up." She muttered, letting go of him when they were out of Mrs. Moore's door.
"It was good to see you all!" Mrs. Moore said with a wave before closing her door shut.
Guiding the MDO's back to her house she opened the door for them. "Shoes off, please," She said, flipping her own shoes off before stepping further into the house.
The house was wasn't anything unusual, which made sense if it were to fit Cherub's standards. The wood floors had quite a few deep scuff and claw marks that were clearly attempted to be buffed out, but were too deep unlike other marks. Across shelves were dozens were of antiques, lined up, each with a magical and forbidden appearance
"If you're staying by for long you should probably bring in your other friend though," Cherub said with a concerned expression.
Phantom looked back to check that Sivik and Tara were still there, but when he saw them he looked back at her confused, "What other friend?"
"The talking unicorn you all left in the car," Cherub reminded her.
"OH MY GOSH, I FORGOT!" Tara screamed, running back to the limousine.
"Yeah... I relate to that, object mutants are always forgotten. Once Requiem forgot me in a drawer and then when I had to break it he still got mad at ME!" Cherub complained.
"Yeah, those things happen, like once I brought a group of my hive together for a fight and decided to give them their freedoms back for a while. Then when I went back they were all dead and it turned out they were rival gangs. I mean powers are just kind of funny like that," Phantom enthused. But given Cherub's disgusted expression she likely didn't find the story as charming as Phantom did.
"Um..." Cherub tried to reply, feeling her hair anxiously, "If you want we could play video games while waiting?"
